The Humanoid Robot was presented at the Auto Expo held at Pragati Madan in Delhi. Honda Siel Cars India Limited unveiled ASIMO, the world’s first Humanoid robot. Honda Siel Cars India is a joint venture between Japan’s Honda and India’s Siel. It has been designed by the Honda’s Research and development Wako Fundamental Technical Research Centre in Japan. The ASIMO stands for the Advanced Steps in Innovative Mobility. It is compact and light weighted. It is a human friendly design. It can be easily manipulated greatly with the upper limb movement. This gives an easy manipulation. The goal of the engineers was to develop a robot that can act like a human being.
This Robot was presented in front of the underprivileged children. They were shown the demo. They could very well see how the robot was working. It was quite efficiently made and watching this event live was quite a good experience. It was a quite exciting to watch the world’s first humanoid robot walking, and climbing stairs. Watching all this happening seems that the man’s vision has taken the first step forward. It could also understand gestures, follow commands and recognize voices easily.
The company is expecting to sell 60,000 to 70,000 cars in 2009-10. This expectation is on the basis of the improved consumer sentiment.
