The model presented applies directly to any change process that requires a structured approach and predictable outcomes. A complementary tool called the Force Field Analysis was also developed by Dr. Lewin. This tool provides a structured way to look at the forces that drive the change forward and the forces that restrain the change from happening. The center line represents the equilibrium or current situation in which these forces are applied. This equilibrium is also the baseline measurement for going forward and assessing progress toward the change or improvement goal.
The value of the Force Field Analysis is the action planning that’s initiated as a result of the identification of the driving and restraining forces. The goal is to develop recommendations and supporting actions designed to strengthen the driving forces and remove the restraining forces
