Hi i am going to tel you the real story of waht happen at the first day college .its a strange feeling have lots of dream and fear of ragging because every one have heard about ragging and it may go to what stage .as you enter the gate of college you start looking for other fresher to make them your friend and also continusly keep an eye on people who are looking you .trying to neglect them and show as if you are a regular person and know all them .

my advice for you is be confident do not speak more that day to any one otherwise it will cause you and be in friendly nature and do what the senior says to satisfy them and also show that you are not coward .
