Swine Flu H1N1
H1N1 is a disease caused by a strange virus which is basically named for a virus which pigs are affected with. This virus is contagious and spreads from one person to another person. This disease is officially called as H1N1 which was first identified in April 2009 and is universally called as Swine Flu. The world Health organization has raised the pandemic alert to maximum level in the coming months. Though a lot of people have misconceptions about swine flu, it is just an influenza A H1N1 virus which is nothing but another type of flu virus; this virus also causes similar kind of symptoms which other seasonal flu symptom causes.
Now the time has come to take utmost care to prevent, spreading of this disease all over the world.
It is always advisable to seek a doctor immediately because only through proper clinical test you can confirm if you are affected with swine flu or not. Most of the times symptoms and circumstances provides you clues which increases the probability of swine flu.
The following are the symptoms of Swine Flu (Influenza A H1N1) –
1 Severe Cold
2 Abnormally high fever along with tiredness
3 Difficulty in breathing
4 Diarrhea and Vomiting
People who are in the occupation of Aviation (Pilot, Air hostesses), hospitality industry or customs and whose jobs involves with lot of interaction with foreign tourist are the ones who needs to be very careful as they are at high risk of catching swine flu. Also babies, children, people who smoke a lot and pregnant women are those with less immunity and therefore have to careful. Based on the flu like symptoms, we should not come to a conclusion if your body is affected with virus or not but consulting a doctor and going through clinical test is essential.
To prevent the explosion of Influenza A H1N1 virus, the following are the guidelines which needs to followed to protect yourself against this disease –
1. Always wash your hands using soaps or any kind of hand disinfectant
2. Avoid close contacts with people (shaking hands , hugging , kissing etc)
3. Avoid frequently crowded or congested areas in which swine flu is reported.
4. Always use tissue to cover your mouth or nose while coughing and sneezing.
5. Use face mask to prevent infections.
6. Always advisable to seek a doctor.
The origin of this deadly disease was in Mexico and within few months this disease has spread to more than 160 countries. As yet no vaccine has been found to prevent this disease, therefore the best we citizens can do is keep ourselves informed about the happenings and the steps we can take to prevent the spread of the flu.
